Blending Content with Interaction

Welcome back to Day 15 of the Good Content Design Challenge! Today, we’ll be diving into the world of interactive quizzes for product onboarding. Crafting interactive content isn't just about making something look good or fun. It’s about building a seamless user experience that educates while engaging, giving users a reason to come back. In this challenge, I focused on creating an interactive onboarding quiz for GlowGenius, my AI-powered skincare app, that educates new users while keeping the process fun and accessible.

The process of building an onboarding quiz strengthens your ability to blend content with interaction. You’re not only thinking about the words but also how those words guide users, helping them make informed decisions about their skincare. This kind of user-centered content design forces you to understand the user journey and think about where they might need extra help or clarification.

Today's Challenge

Day 15: Build an interactive quiz to onboard new users to a product, ensuring it educates while engaging. Focus on crafting questions that are informative and entertaining while guiding users through key concepts.

The Onboarding Quiz

  1. What’s Your Skin Type? How would you describe your skin’s typical behavior?

    • Dry: I’m always reaching for moisturizer.

    • Oily: Shine central by midday!

    • Combination: I’m oily in some areas, dry in others.

    • Sensitive: My skin reacts to everything.

    • Not sure: Help me figure it out! (Link to the GlowGenius SkinScanner)

  2. How much time can you dedicate to your skincare routine? Be honest: How long are you willing to spend on skincare each day?

    • 5 minutes: Quick and simple, please!

    • 10-15 minutes: I’m committed, but I need efficiency.

    • 20+ minutes: Give me the full treatment!

    • It depends: Some days quick, some days I indulge.

  3. What’s your biggest skincare concern? What’s the #1 skin issue you’re hoping to improve?

    • Acne or breakouts

    • Dark spots or hyperpigmentation

    • Fine lines and wrinkles

    • Dullness or uneven texture

    • Dehydration or tightness

    • I’m not sure: Let GlowGenius analyze my skin for recommendations. (Link to the GlowGenius SkinScanner)

  4. What’s your skincare knowledge level? How familiar are you with skincare ingredients and routines?

    • Beginner: I need all the basics.

    • Intermediate: I know my hyaluronic acid from my retinol.

    • Pro: I could host my own skincare masterclass.

  5. Would you like to track your progress? GlowGenius can help you track your skincare journey with photos and weekly updates. Do you want to enable progress tracking?

    • Yes! I want to see how my skin evolves.

    • No, I’ll just follow along with my routine.

    • Maybe later: Remind me in a week.

Results Screen: "Congrats! We’ve used your answers and the power of AI to create your personalized GlowGenius routine! We’ve crafted a custom regimen with products and tips tailored to your skin type, concerns, and lifestyle. Don’t worry, you can adjust your preferences anytime!"

Final Thoughts

Designing this onboarding quiz for GlowGenius was an eye-opening process. It forced me to consider every part of the user experience and how to guide users toward a personalized skincare routine without overwhelming them. Creating content that isn’t just written well but also interactive requires a solid understanding of user behavior.

The balance between providing enough information to be helpful while keeping things light and engaging was crucial. I wanted users to feel like they were having a conversation with GlowGenius rather than filling out a boring form. Additionally, I realized the importance of having a Back button in the quiz, allowing users to change their answers if needed. I also incorporated a link to the company’s AI policy for transparency, as it helps build trust when users understand how their data is being handled.

This challenge was a reminder that great content design is about clarity, flow, and always putting the user first.
